Billy Boy compensates for this by supporting a coastal protection project in Rostock and a forest protection project in Brazil. For every package sold, Billy Boy also plants one tree in a mangrove project in Kenya.
How exemplary is Billy Boy Green Love?
The fact that a well-known brand like Billy Boy is launching a climate-neutral product is welcome. It’s also good that on the Product page all supported projects are described. However, carbon neutrality through offsetting only works if the projects are sustainably successful and actually sufficient CO2 tie. In addition, it is always better to reduce the CO2 emissions in production and also to support nature and climate protection projects. It is to be welcomed that the company claims to be 100 percent Green electricity used at its production site and the packaging box for the Green Love condoms FSC– is certified.
Utopia says: Green Love is a first step in the right direction. In the future, it would be desirable if Billy Boy’s entire product range became more environmentally and climate-friendly and not just one climate-neutral product.
