Plants cannot flee when their environment becomes inhospitable. But they have developed very efficient survival strategies.
If it gets uncomfortable, too hot or too humid, the food is too scarce or even poisoned, or if the enemies are overpowering - then animals have the opportunity to move away. Plants are largely denied this. You can't just walk away, at least not overnight. You need other strategies that work in the short or medium term.
