Half subsidy pot for used electric car empty

Second-hand part runs out faster

Half subsidy pot for used electric car empty

Almost half of the SEPP subsidy budget that is available this year to stimulate the purchase and private lease of an used electric vehicle has now been allocated. However, there is no reason to hurry with the purchase of a second-hand electric car. Financial compensation can still be requested for almost 8,500 used electric vehicles. This is evident from an analysis by AutoWeek of the figures from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

Of the SEPP subsidy pot that was filled this year with an amount of €99.4 million, €32.4 million is intended to stimulate the sale or private lease of used electric vehicles. Those who want to purchase a second-hand electric car with an original catalog value (tax price) of a maximum of €45,000 can benefit from a €2,000 purchase subsidy. Of the €32.4 million, €15.41 million has now been forgiven (47.6 percent). This means that almost half of the subsidy budget has been used up. To date, a budget has been requested for 7,705 second-hand EVs. €16.99 million is still available (52.4 percent). That means that there is still enough budget left for 8,495 electric used cars.

Dutch consumers are now increasingly making use of the possibility of receiving a subsidy for the purchase of a second-hand EV. Just under a month ago, 40.2 percent of the subsidy budget for used electric cars was allocated. More than 7 percentage points difference. Two months ago, that percentage was just under 33 percent.

New electric passenger car

Of the €99.4 million initially available this year, €67 million is intended to stimulate the purchase or private lease of a new electric car with a catalog value of up to €45,000. After all, you can receive a financial compensation of €2,950 for this. Of that €67 million, €24.6 million has been forgiven at the time of writing. Just under 37 percent. The part of the subsidy pot that is reserved for the purchase of used EVs therefore flies out of the treasury more quickly. To date, SEPP subsidies have been applied for for 8,339 new electric cars. There is still €42.4 million (63.3 percent) left, enough to make another 14,373 Dutch people happy with a contribution towards the purchase of a new electric car.

A month ago around this time, 33.6 percent of the subsidy budget for new electric cars had been allocated. Only about 3 percentage points difference. Two months ago, that percentage was 30.6 percent.

If we look at the complete subsidy pot of €99.4 million, we see that €59.39 million (almost 60 percent) is still left. A total of €40.01 million in subsidy has been applied for for the purchase of a new or used electric car this year (40.3 percent).
