Harley-Davidson introduces new CVO models: CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide

The new 121 cubic inch V-twin (1,983 cc on the metric system) V-twin Milwaukee Eight VVT 121 is the new benchmark for factory installed torque and power for a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle, according to the Americans.

The latest evolution of the Milwaukee Eight features optimized liquid-cooled cylinder heads with a new cooling system, variable valve timing (VVT), and a new intake tract and performance exhaust system.

According to Harley, the development of the two new CVO models has carefully considered every aspect that can affect overall performance and comfort. For example, Harley claims to have significantly reduced the dry weight – 14 kg for the CVO Street Glide and 16 kg for the CVO Road Glide.

Powerful Showa suspension front and rear promotes confidence-inspiring handling and dramatically improves ride comfort over previous CVO models, with rear travel increased by 50 percent. Premium Brembo brake shop offers excellent brake feel and premium braking performance for added confidence. According to Harley-Davidson.

For the first time, the CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide offer selectable riding modes – Road, Sport and Rain – that electronically control a specific combination of power delivery, engine braking, Cornering-Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering-Traction Control System (C- TCS) settings.

Aerodynamic and thermal comfort are provided by completely new fairings with a ‘floating’ windshield and by adjustable air direction elements. In wind tunnel tests, turbulence around the helmet has been reduced by an average of 60 percent compared to equivalent 2022 models. The new engine cooling system provides even greater thermal comfort for the rider compared to previous CVO models.

“With the new CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models, we are continuing our mission to enhance every aspect of the Grand American Touring riding experience,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson. “These models set a new standard for Harley-Davidson performance, technology and style and accelerate the evolution of the world’s most sought-after motorcycle brand.”

The new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide feature an impressive new design that clearly evolves from the familiar shapes of previous Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring motorcycles. Both models have a fairing with integrated ventilation and LED lighting with integrated LED indicators.

Additional design elements include a shortened front fender, a new 22.7-litre fuel tank with a signature lower lip, and saddlebags with a new three-dimensional shape that matches the fairing and fuel tank. The new cast spoked wheels make a bold custom statement with a black machined cast aluminum rim and spokes.

Both CVO models introduce a completely new suite of infotainment technology, powered by the new Skyline OS. A 12.3-inch TFT color touchscreen replaces all analog instruments and most switches. This premium display has three different display options and is compatible with Apple and Android devices.

WiFi connectivity allows wireless connection to the rider’s smartphone and a Bluetooth receiver for wireless headsets is built into the system. Both models feature extensive media storage compartments with a USB-C connection point. A premium, high-performance, four-speaker Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II audio system is powered by a new 500-watt RMS amplifier.

The new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models are offered with two paint options. Standard Dark Platinum with Bright Smoked Satin pinstriping and color-matched inner fairing. The powertrain and air cleaner are Gloss Black with Scorched Chrome accents on the engine inserts.

Optional at extra cost, Whiskey Neat/Raven Metallic two-tone with color-matched inner fairing. This complex paintwork is applied by hand. Raven Metallic panels are applied over the deep orange Whiskey Neat base, with airbrush accents and a bright orange pinstripe at the color break. Both color schemes are highlighted by Adversary™ Collection accessories fitted to the motorcycles.

The CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide will make their public debut in Budapest, Hungary at the 120th Anniversary Festival, June 22-25, and in Milwaukee at the Harley-Davidson Homecoming™ Festival, July 13-16, 2023. arriving in showrooms of authorized Harley-Davidson dealers worldwide in August.
