Harley has restarted production

Harley-Davidson has resumed motorcycle production in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. On May 18, a two-week production stop was announced due to supply problems at a supplier, which appears to have been slightly longer.

Harley has restarted production

Anyone who happened to read the Wall Street Journal last Friday already knew it, but it was only today that we were made aware that the Wall Stelt Journal had already posted on Friday that Harley-Davidson would restart production at both factories.

What was going on again? On May 17, Harley issued a short but powerful press release, announcing that all production had to be shut down.

According to Harley, the decision to temporarily close both plants in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania as a precaution was based on information a supplier had provided on Tuesday evening, May 17, about potential quality issues with a particular part.

Because the production shutdown only affected the Harley models with a combustion engine and not the LiveWire electric models, it was suggested in various media that it would be part of the powertrain.

Harley then indicated that it expected to be able to restart production after about two weeks, but apparently a little more time was needed to fix the problems.
