Triumph calls Speed Twin 900 and 1200 back in the US: cuts too close to rear light

Triumph has had to roll out a recall in the United States for the 2025 Speed Twin 900, Speed Twin 1200 and Speed Twin 1200 RS. The red flashing lights behind are closer to the rear light than is legally permitted there.

Triumph calls Speed Twin 900 and 1200 back in the US: cuts too close to rear light

With us in Europe, flashing lights give an orange color, but in the United States the rear clippers often shine red. For a clear distinction between rear light and flashing light, a minimum distance between cutters and rear light of 4 inches (approximately 10 centimeters) is mandatory.

However, the Speed Twin 900 and Speed Twin 1200 (and the RS version thereof) did not meet that standard, and so the cutters must be adjusted.

In total, 1,157 engines have to go back to the dealer in the US, which replaces the red cutters with Amber-colored. These do meet the legal homologation requirements. In the production, the change was already implemented on 6 February 2025, from VIN CH4468.
