Harley recalls 2023 Street Glide CVO: steering problems above 100 mph

Harley-Davidson has issued a recall for the 2023 Street Glide CVO (FLHXSE). Units manufactured before June 10, 2023 may react more strongly to road and weather conditions than expected at speeds above 160 km/h.

On August 31, 2023, the Harley-Davidson Technical Subcommittee (TSC) received two reports of alleged handling concerns on 2023 FLHXSE models. The TSC had six meetings to examine additional material. The available data showed that 4 reports had been received regarding this matter.

Research showed that the engine was very difficult to control at high speed under certain conditions, especially on poor road surfaces or in strong winds. Although this could even lead to a crash, no accident occurred.

The instability is the result of a combination of factors: the mass of the front suspension, the stiffness and the energy together do not provide the desired performance at speeds above 100 miles per hour (160 km/h). Dealers will now update the Engine Control Module software and also install additional ballast and a belt.
