On April 12, Harley-Davidson will unveil the second Sportster based on the Revolution Max V-twin. A teaser video showing a glimpse of the new bike has been put online by the Americans.
We don’t know much yet, but based on what is known, a reasonable picture can be sketched of the second Sportster model that has now been announced by Harley. Last year, during the launch of the Sportster S, Harley said that it would not stop at that one model.
Since then, Harley has researched customers to find out what is valued and what is not. A picture of the same bike in 6 different versions in terms of engine block, gas tank and 7-spoke wheels is quite similar to the glimpse of the new bike in the Youtube teaser video.
The video also shows that a traditional telescopic front fork is mounted at the front, while the stereo rear shocks are placed directly behind the seat. So it seems that the new model should be seen more as a typical Cruiser, rather than the Performance Cruiser idea of the Sportster S.
There is much speculation in the corridors that the new model will have a smaller displacement than the Sportster S. When the Revolution Max V-twin was unveiled, Harley already indicated that the block would be used in different displacements in the future, from 500cc to 1250cc .
If that is indeed the case, we will put our money on 975cc, the displacement that was already used for the Bronx streetfighter that never went into production. We will know more on April 12 when the bike will be unveiled by Harley.
