Hasleo Backup Suite is from the same makers as Easy UEFI and WinToUSB, among others. We tested the 2.0 beta version here (64 bit). The tool turns out to be very well-arranged: from a vertical button bar you can choose backup, clone or restore. Furthermore, there is another Toolssection, in which the option to select a rescue media is especially interesting. After all, if your Windows gives up, you can still boot your system with this boot medium and restore your backup.
Backup and Clone
let’s with start backups. Unlike some other backup tools, here you can only back up entire drives or partitions – no individual files. There are two basic options: a system backup and a disk/partition backup. Pretty much the only difference is that with the former, the system partitions are already selected by default.
In addition, both allow you to set the compression rate and backup frequency, as well as enable 256-bit encryption and specify that you want to limit the image files to a specific size. Sector-by-sector backups are also possible and you can choose between a full, incremental or differential backup. Conveniently, you can have commands or scripts executed before and after the backup and you can be notified of your backup operations by email. Cloning a physical disk (or its partitions) to another disk is also possible. Such a migration scenario is interesting, for example, if you have purchased a larger disk.
recovery
Of course, a backup only makes sense if you can restore the data in an emergency. The suite keeps a chronological overview of your backups for this. You only need to select the desired backup, indicate the correct version if applicable and then restore the backup to the original or another location (read: partition or disk). Unfortunately, the suite lacks the ability to mount a backup image as a virtual drive, so selective file recovery is not (yet) possible.
Conclusion
Hasleo Backup Suite is a relatively new product that certainly appeals to us. You can backup as well as clone drives and partitions and all major backup options are available, right down to automatic mail notifications. The biggest shortcoming is the lack of the possibility to restore individual files. Hopefully this feature will appear in the next release.
