Gordon Murray Automotive announces the arrival of a race-specific version of its first supercar, the T.50. As if that 663 hp machine was not yet powerful enough …
Gordon Murray Automotive, founded by none other than McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, introduced the T.50 to the world in early August. That T.50 is a supercar with a special powertrain laced with genes from the illustrious F1 that Murray is partly responsible for. Behind the front seats is a V12, developed together with Cosworth, with a remarkably small 3.9-liter capacity. The drivetrain gives the winged and mainly carbon fiber T.50 a power output of 663 hp and 467 Nm. The impressive T.50 will soon also be a version specially intended for the circuits, according to Gordon Murray Automotive.
The racing version of the T.50 developed for the circuits, which is therefore not street legal, bears the name T.50S. All 48 regular T.50s to be built are already sold out, those who missed the boat can order one of the 25 T50S ‘. With its vehicle weight of only 890 kilos, the T.50S puts a total of 94 kilos even less into the scale than the already known variant of the supercar. The power of the V12 is also boosted for the racing version to more than 730 hp. Equally interesting is the downward pressure generated by the modified spoiler work together with the ‘fan’ on the back of the T.50S. The downward pressure amounts to a maximum of 1,500 kilos, which is 170 percent of the vehicle weight. If you want such a fierce circuit toy, you have to be in a lot of trouble. Gordon Murray Automotive is asking almost € 3.5 million for the T.50S. Yes, that’s the basic price, excluding taxes …
