FCA’s parts division, Mopar, caters to handy DIYers and fans of brutal V8 power. The 807 hp 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi-V8 from the SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye is now also available separately.
Downsizing and electrification are two prominent trends in the automotive industry that not every car enthusiast is equally keen on. Dodge has been meeting that group for some time now by offering the well-known 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi-V8 with an output of well over 700 hp in a number of cars. Not just the Challenger and Charger, but even the Durango and the Ram 1500 got this block. The Challenger Demon even made 840 hp! Later, a slightly more moderate Hellcat Redeye came on the market that produced 807 horsepower. Mopar now also offers that engine separately.
The specifications do not lie. That 807 horsepower is the specified number in ‘American horsepower’. In European horsepower, the number of horses is no less than 818. The torque is possibly even more impressive at 972 Nm. Mopar states that the stand-alone engine is intended for pre-1976 street and off-road cars, but what do you care about spooning the block into something else? An Alfa Romeo Stelvio with Hellcat power, or a Fiat Spider with a pounding eight-cylinder under the hood? Who knows where you will end up with a little handy sawing and key work?
For $ 21,807, converted to € 18,382, you can call yourself the owner of the Hellcat Redeye V8. Of course, the amount in euros is without any import duties and costs. For this amount, all parts that belong to the engine, such as the water pump and the supercharger, are included. The Redeye block is the fifth ‘crate engine’ that Mopar offers. The range ranges from a 5.7-liter Hemi-V8 with 375 hp to a brutally strong 7.0-liter supercharged V8 with 1,000 hp. Do some DIY!
