There is a new privateer on the coast in the field of electric vans. The new Hiperon presents the Hiperon Carrier and immediately scatters promising specifications.
We don’t know everything about the Hiperon brand yet, which should not be confused with supercar builder Hyperion. So there are still some questions, but the Hiperon Carrier itself has remarkably few secrets. It is a slickly designed commercial vehicle that should appear on the market in different variants. In addition to the obvious closed van, there is also a passenger bus and a ‘chassis cab’, a version that is suitable for separate construction by third parties.
The bus version is 5.66 meters long, exactly two meters wide, 2.01 meters high and has a wheelbase of 3.74 meters. In comparison: the Volkswagen Transporter, well known to everyone, is in its smallest form 4.90 meters long, 1.90 meters wide and 1.99 meters high, with a wheelbase of 3 meters. The Hiperon Carrier is fully electric and has a theoretical range of 320 km with a 75 kWh battery. There is also plenty of power, because with 265 hp it should still be possible to get your things delivered in time. Those things may also weigh quite a bit, because with 995 kg, the Carrier also has more payload than the aforementioned Transporter.
The appearance of the Hiperon Carrier is also remarkable. The bus was designed by a European design agency and looks very smooth and futuristic. The completely flat sides and remarkably small LED lighting units give it a striking, tidy appearance. Mirrors have been replaced by cameras and the front – and only – side window flows seamlessly into a stripe that goes all the way around the back of the car.
Damages
The bus shown in the pictures has a large tailgate. Notably absent is a guide rail for a possible sliding door, but Hiperon may have devised a smart solution for that. It is also striking that the front seems to consist of one piece and real bumpers are missing. That looks sleek, but we don’t think it is very useful for the damage that will irrevocably arise with these types of vans. Also noteworthy: not only the rear, but also the front number plate is illuminated.
The interior looks sleek, but a bit more production-ready than the outside. We see three cup holders in the middle, separate buttons for the climate control and a large vertical screen. There are also three seats, divided between a chair and a two-seater bench.
Prices
The whole still breathes a concept-car atmosphere, but Hiperon says that the Carrier can be reserved in 51 days, so early January. We also already know that three versions will be available. The Carrier Basic costs about €43,600 and has cruise control, a 13-inch screen with navigation and a heated driver’s seat. The Carrier Pro costs about €54,200 and adds things like adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel and a larger screen to the package.
