Ambitious

Meet Hiperon Motors, an ambitious car manufacturer from Malaysia that presents a brand new electric SUV with the Hiperon Fosslin, which is also available with a fuel cell.
You may remember Hiperon Motors from the Carrier, an electric commercial vehicle with which the Malaysian company introduced itself to the world in 2021. Hiperon – whose name is reminiscent of the American Hyperion Motors – has now released the first images of its first passenger car. That is – how could it be otherwise – an SUV. But not just any. The Hiperon Fosslin will have an electric powertrain, but must also be available with a fuel cell.
Hiperon does not yet share any information about the Fosslin with fuel cell. It does, however, highlight the powertrain of the electric variant in a bird’s-eye view. First the packaging. The Fosslin is a 4.88 meter long, 1.99 meter wide and 1.69 meter high SUV with a steeply sloping roofline from the B-pillar. The Fosslin appears to be getting hinged rear doors at the rear, has recessed door handles and a fairly clean design without too much visual fuss. The One One Lab design studio is responsible for the design of the Fosslin. What does the model name Fosslin mean? According to Hiperon, the model name is a combination of the Norwegian words Foss and Lyn, which respectively mean something like ‘waterfall’ and ‘lightning’.
The electric Hiperon Fosslin gets a 95-kWh battery pack and a 480 hp powertrain. The whole gives the SUV weighing 2,485 kilos a range of 450 kilometers. The Malaysian company is already releasing extensive standard equipment. For example, the Fosslin gets 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, adaptive cruise control, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated rear seat, a 17-inch infotainment screen and a whole range of passive and active safety systems, including a 360-degree camera, blind spot detection and an active lane assist.
Hiperon will first build a handful of units, the first of which should be delivered in the third quarter of this year. There is no starting price yet.
