HiPhi Z Performance version

If an electric thing can do something well, it is – in addition to consuming electricity – accelerating rapidly. The Chinese HiPhi is also launching a sporty top version of one of its EVs. You will undoubtedly be pressed into your seat far beyond your shoulders when fully unleashing the intense amount of electric horses.

At the beginning of this decade, you had to turn to brands like Ferrari to drive a car that could accelerate from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. A Ferrari 360 Modena treated its wealthy owner to a loud roar with a 0-100 time of 4.5 seconds. Nowadays, for a generous €42,000, you can get into a relatively compact hatchback with 435 electric horses that completes the 0-100 sprint almost a second earlier than that Italian exotic, albeit in complete silence. Thanks to their electric motors and direct power delivery, EVs can often accelerate very quickly, so it is not surprising that it quickly becomes a sensational experience for those who have not driven electrically before. It is therefore not surprising that car manufacturers like to come up with powerful performance versions of EVs as the ultimate image maker. Tesla has the 1,000 hp Model S Plaid, Porsche has a more than 1,000 hp Taycan and Zeekr recently conjured up the pleasantly crazy 1,265 hp 001 FR. The Chinese HiPhi also intends to come up with a lightning-fast EV.

HiPhi Z

The sporty top version of the HiPhi Z in an earlier patent image.

On its Weibo page, HiPhi releases a short teaser video announcing the arrival of a fiercely winged version of the Z. The company has not yet stated how powerful it will be. You can bet that it produces more electric power than the ‘regular’ variant with a power of 672 hp. More than a year ago, AutoWeek was able to show you the patent drawings of a heavily spoiled version of the HiPhi Z. What does it turn out? That seems to be the car that HiPhi will soon unveil itself. The spoiler work is completely consistent. It is therefore certain that the HiPhi Z will be a heavy thing.
