More than a ton

The Chinese HiPhi is crossing over to Europe and is already opening order books for its first two EVs in Germany and Norway: the HiPhi X and the HiPhi Z. That also means that we can give you a first indication of the prices of the electric Chinese pair .
HiPhi is the car brand of the Chinese Human Horizons. In China, the X and Z have been on the sales lists for a while, and the smaller HiPhi Y was recently added. The Y is also coming to Europe, but the X and Z are the first models with which it lands in Europe for our new Chinese brand. AutoWeek can now tell you what the HiPhi X and HiPhi Z should cost in Germany and Norway. Human Horizons describes HiPhi as a premium brand, so it is not surprising that the two Chinese newcomers are not exactly marketed as budget models.

From left to right: the HiPhi X, Y and Z.
HiPhi X
The HiPhi X has a starting price of €109,000 in Germany. That amount is for the six-seater. The more luxurious variant with four seats is on the price list for €123,000. In Norway, the six- and four-seat versions of the X cost €100,114 and €114,047 respectively. For comparison: a Tesla Model X (Dual Motor) is available in Germany from €113,490 and in Norway from €89,330 (the Netherlands: €116,490). The starting price of the HiPhi X is therefore above that in both countries. So don’t be surprised if the X is on the price list in the Netherlands from about €110-115,000.

HiPhi X.
The HiPhi X is a 5.2 meter long electric SUV with a wheelbase of 3.15 meters. The model, equipped with rear-facing rear doors and small gull-wing doors, has two electric motors with a combined 590 hp and accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds. The 97-kWh battery is good for a WLTP range of 460 kilometers. In the interior you will find three screens: a 14-inch digital instrument panel, a 16.9-inch infotainment screen and a large 19.9-inch screen for the co-driver.
The HiPhi X is equipped with, among other things, an electrically opening and closing refrigerator in the back, rear-wheel steering, no fewer than 562 sensors and an extensive package of active and passive driver assistance and safety systems.
HiPhi Z
Then the HiPhi Z. The electric GT, perhaps even more strangely designed, costs €105,000 in Germany as a five-seater and €107,000 as a four-seater. In Norway, the five- and four-seater cost €95,436 and €98,273 respectively. For comparison: a Tesla Model S (Dual Motor) costs at least €105,490 in Germany and at least €83,312 in Norway (the Netherlands: €107,490). The Z is also more expensive in both Germany and Norway than a paper model that is more or less more similar Tesla. Don’t be alarmed if it just starts to cost around €105,000-110,000 in the Netherlands.

HiPhi Z.
The HiPhi Z is a 5.04 meter long shooting-brake-like hatchback with two electric motors producing 672 hp together, good for a 0-100 sprint in 3.8 seconds. There is a 120-kWh battery in the bottom, good for a range of 555 kilometers. HiPhi equips the Z with, among other things, an interesting infotainment screen. It stands on three robotic arms that can put it in vertical and horizontal mode. In addition, the position of the screen is automatically adjusted to the position of your chair and it can also tilt extensively around the X and Y axes.
The first copies of the HiPhi X and Z should be delivered to customers in Germany and Norway in the third quarter of this year. Prices for other countries, including the Netherlands, will follow later. As mentioned, it does not stop at the X and Z. The smaller and probably slightly less expensive Y will follow later.
