Honda apologizes and keeps S660 in production

The Honda S660 was due to be retired at the beginning of this year, but the tiny two-seater can still be used until early 2022. The reason for extending the career of the S660 has to do with the popularity of the cart.

At the beginning of 2020, Honda made a final tiny model year update on the S660. The S660 is an open two-seater with a length of 3.4 meters and a 658 cc small power source that produces 64 hp. The kei-car was presented in 2013 and would go out of production in March this year, Honda announced at the beginning of 2020. There was such a big run on the last copies of the S660 at the time that Honda has decided to keep the car in production until March 2022.

Honda offers “[…] Its sincere apologies” for “the inconvenience caused to customers who were unable to purchase the S660 because the car sold out during the negotiation process.” That’s thoughtful and smart. Honda says it will produce the S660 in two more flavors: as α and as β (Alpha and Beta). A total of 650 units, 600 of which can be ordered from Japanese Honda dealers. 50 units will be allocated through a raffle. Honda states that it will give priority to customers who have purchased the previous last batch of missed the S660.

The Honda S660, in fact the spiritual successor of the Beat, has a starting price in Japan of about €15,350. In its home country Japan, the car has to compete with the current Daihatsu Copen.
