The new eleventh-generation Honda Civic debuted as a Sedan in late April, but that’s not the only body style coming from Honda’s new Golf competitor. There will also be a hatchback version and it is that new Honda Civic Hatchback that we can now show you the first shadows.
At the end of April, Honda pulled the curtain on the completely new Civic in the United States. The new Honda Civic made its debut as a Sedan, a car that is much more clearly a four-door sedan than the saloon version of the outgoing tenth generation. At the end of June, the new Civic Sedan will have a hatchback brother. The new Civic Hatchback will make its world debut on June 24.

The teaser plates that Honda shares of the new Civic Hatchback show the side view of the car. This shows that the new Civic Hatchback, just like the current hatchback version, will again have a relatively sloping rear. No straight-sloping butt as we are used to in this segment from cars such as the Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf and Hyundai i30. The first images of the new Civic Hatchback reveal few design details, although we have secretly known for some time.

In September last year, Techzle was already able to show an extensive series of patent plates of both the new Civic Sedan and new Civic Hatchback. Honda gives the eleventh generation Civic a much quieter design than the outgoing model. It’s done with the sharp creases, large cooling vents and large C-shaped taillights. The rear spoiler that divides the rear window into two parts also does not return. The new Civic is designed to calm down. The nose of the new Civic Hatchback is undoubtedly identical to that of the sedan version and thus shows strong design similarities with that of cars such as the Insight and Accord not available here. Like the Civic Sedan, the Civic Hatchback has a chrome-colored design element in the C-pillar. At the rear, the new five-door Civix will have a relatively simple light source consisting of horizontally oriented light units that are optically tied together with an LED strip.

The new Honda Civic Sedan grew in length by 4 centimeters compared to its predecessor to 4.67 meters. If the Civic Hatchback also grows by the same number of centimeters, that means that the newcomer to be revealed at the end of this month will be about 4.56 meters long. The wheelbase of the new hatchback version will undoubtedly be the same as that of its already unveiled sedan brother: 2.74 meters. In the United States, Honda supplies the new Civic Sedan with a 150 hp and 187 Nm strong naturally aspirated 2.0 liter petrol engine, above that is the 182 hp and 240 Nm powerful 1.5 from the outgoing Civic, a petrol engine with turbo. It is already certain that the new Civic will come with a board-hard Type-R

A coupé version of the Civic, as it was sold in the United States until 2020, is unlikely to return. You also do not have to expect a station version of the new Civic, the Civic Tourer that existed from the ninth generation was not a resounding sales success. It is not yet known if and when Honda will present the European version of the new Civic.
Civic in the Netherlands
The current generation Civic is not a sales success in the Netherlands. The model, which appeared on the Dutch price lists in 2016, managed to find only 299 owners in its first full year of sales, 2017. In 2018, 356 units found a Dutch owner and that was immediately the best sales year of the model in our country. In 2019, sales fell to 259 units and last year Honda only managed to entice 154 private individuals to purchase the car. Also the generation for the outgoing model, generation nine, was not a sales stunner here. Remarkably, until 2011, the sales figures of the Civic almost never fell below 1,300 units, with peaks of more than 6,000 and even 8,000 units.
