It is equally well known that Honda is coming with a new Civic Type-R. Camouflaged test specimens have already been snapped and recently Honda showed the new Civic Type-R itself in a tight sticker sheet. Our spy photographer has now also been able to extensively capture the fierce Japanese.
As is now known, the latest generation Civic hatchback, like its new sedan brother, which is probably not to be shipped to Europe, looks a lot less exuberant than its predecessor. The new Honda design looks much calmer and therefore more mature, but perhaps also more interchangeable. This also has its effect on the new Civic Type-R, although the striking bumper work and the large rear spoiler provide the necessary visual drama.
The new Civic Type-R will be launched next year. In any case, he will come to Europe, but whether he will also visit the Dutch market is not yet entirely clear. In any case, count on a fierce and at least 320 hp powertrain. Expect some form of electrification, as Honda aims to have its entire European model range electrified by 2022.
