The absolute top version of the Honda Civic is back and ready for 2024. Honda Civic Type R remains a rock-hard, winged and, above all, sporty hot hatch that is armed to the teeth with high-revving Japanese horsepower. What does change? His price. The Honda Civic Type R will be more expensive than ever from 2024.

In November last year, Honda released the Dutch price of the then brand new Civic Type R. At the time it was €78,980. This made it much more expensive than the Type R version of the previous generation Civic, which cost around 60 grand. The Honda Civic Type R is roaring into the new year with its 329 hp 2.0, but it is doing so at an even higher price.

The Honda Civic Type R now costs €88,560 in the Netherlands. So almost €90,000. But it can be even crazier. Honda also offers the Civic Type R as S Grade. That variant costs no less than €95,010. What seems? The Honda Civic Type RS Grade is only available in a limited edition and is always available in the color Championship White. The Honda Civic Type RS Grade is more expensive, but surprisingly offers less. At least, as far as comfort-enhancing pampering is concerned.

The Honda Civic Type RS Grade has no navigation, no parking sensors, no electrically adjustable or heated side mirrors and not even air conditioning. You also have no parcel shelf, no automatically dimming interior mirror and even make-up mirrors without lighting. The result is that the Civic S Type R Grade is about 50 kilos less heavy than the regular Type R, which makes it just that little bit more hardcore have to make. The S Grade is also the version with which Honda reclaimed the Nürburgring crown from the Renault Mégane RS Trophy-R.

Regardless of the chosen version, the Civic Type R has a 329 hp and 420 Nm strong blown 2.0 four-cylinder petrol engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. The Type R accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Its top speed: 275 km/h.
