Honda HR-V out of production

Honda will stop supplying the HR-V in Europe. The compact crossover, which competes with cars such as the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke, will not remain absent from the European market for long, however.

The English Autocar reports that Honda no longer produces new HR-Vs for the European market. The car would have been cut out of the range due to the introduction of the new emission standards that came into effect from 1 January this year. The HR-V is currently only available from stock.

However, the European market will not have to do without HR-V for long. The compact crossover is succeeded in a new generation down to the smallest nut, of which Techzle was recently able to show the first spy plates. The new HR-V appears to be a more dynamic and almost coupé-SUV-like model with a more sloping roofline and a strikingly flat rear window. We do not expect the current engines to return in the new HR-V. Honda previously indicated that it will only supply electrified powertrains in Europe. Honda will probably include the e: HEV powertrain that it will also deliver in the new Jazz in the new HR-V.

The HR-V has not turned out to be a sales hit in the Netherlands. Since the re-introduction of the model name in 2015, less than 2,000 HR-Vs have been sold in our country. Only in 2016 (587 units) did the car’s sales figures exceed 500 units. In 2017, 2018 and 2019, 389, 308 and 307 HR-Vs were successively sold. Last year, sales fell to 223 units.
