e:Ny1 anyone?
You may have struggled with it before, but what would you call the Honda e:Ny1 in a conversation? ‘That electric HR-V-like one’, or perhaps ‘Honda Anyone’. It seems that Honda now wants to resolve the ambiguity itself.
As simple as the name Honda E was, the name of its more conventionally designed big brother, the Honda e:Ny1, is just as complicated. In China they already knew it as e:NS1 or as e:NP1, but here in Europe it has been given a name that is most easily referred to as the English anyone can be pronounced. However, the British themselves are also somewhat confused about it and are now reporting Coach that Honda has plans to change the name.
Coach mentions a source close to the brand. According to him, the name change means that the ‘e:N’ part will disappear. Strangely enough, this is reportedly mainly done for the Chinese market, because the Chinese cannot pronounce it at all. In that case, they will simply have the S1 or P1, we in Europe will soon have the Honda Y1. That’s just a bit easier. In the same context, the recently presented e:NP2 and e:NS2 would then be called P2 and S2. So there may be a name change before they hit the market. Where did we hear that last time?
