Honda shows first design sketches new Hornet

We’ve known since last year’s EICMA, when that news was announced by Big Red, that Honda will be using the illustrious name Hornet again. According to Honda, the devil is in the tail of the new Hornet and has released some design sketches to illustrate.

Honda shows first design sketches new Hornet

A unique blend of technical beauty and aggression, which, according to Honda, is reflected in the dynamic sketches of the new Hornet and will soon be anchored in the DNA of the new Hornet. The design concept is the result of the latest collaboration between Honda’s R&D centers in Italy and Japan.

The creation of the concept sketches was led by Honda’s R&D Center in Rome, which, in close collaboration with the R&D Center in Japan, has already been responsible for shaping many of Honda’s recent successful European models, including the Africa Twin, CB650R and X-ADV .

The designer of the new Hornet is 28-year-old Giovanni Dovis, whose most recent creation is the new ADV350.

Giovanni Dovis, designer Honda R&D Europe, Italy:

“Honda’s design philosophy is to create something pure and functional in an uncomplicated way – models that are both beautifully simple and emotionally appealing. The sketches show how the Horne design concept promises agility, dynamism and lightweight thanks to its slim proportions, pointed tail section and super sharp lines. It creates a new, compactly proportioned look and has characteristics of tension and aggression from front to back, which outlines the real sporting purpose of the Hornet.”
