Honda shows tiny electric car with more than 200 kilometers of range

The Honda E is already a fairly compact EV, but with this N-Van E Honda proves that it can also make a much smaller electric car. Despite its extremely compact size, the Honda N-Van E should still be able to travel more than 200 kilometers on a full battery.

Honda’s EV range in Europe consists of the Honda E and the e:Ny1 was added this year. However, the small electric car with which Honda is now expanding its line-up will not come to Europe. We are dealing here with a fully electrically powered version of the N-Van, in turn the van within Honda’s N family. Indeed, that series of kei cars, which includes the N-One and N-Box.

As mentioned, the Honda N-Van E is a great car and therefore extremely compact by European standards. It measures just under 3.4 meters, is 1.48 meters wide and, with a height of 1.95, it is remarkably high. The regular N-Van is available with 660 cc three-cylinder engines, but this N-Van with E addition exchanges that petrol engine for an electric drivetrain. Honda has not yet reported how exactly the drivetrain is composed. We do know that the N-Van E should be able to travel more than 210 kilometers on a full battery according to the WLTC cycle. The electric van can be charged with a maximum of 6 kW via a charging socket hidden in the snout of the N-Van E. You should also be able to charge electrical devices with the N-Van E. V2L technology is therefore on board.

The Honda N-Van E has a simplistically decorated interior and, according to the Japanese, is packed with renewable materials. The N-Van E has a loading space of up to 2.65 meters deep, 1.39 meters wide and 1.37 meters high and offers a loading capacity of 300 kilos. A version will be available with two front seats and a simplistic rear seat that folds completely into the floor and even a version with only a driver’s seat and one seat in the back.

Honda is not the only manufacturer selling an electric kei car in Japan. For example, Mitsubishi and Nissan already have electric passenger cars and Toyota will also sell an electric van in the kei segment.
