Indeed, next year will be 30 years since Honda launched the legendary CBR900RR Fireblade, which revolutionized the supersport segment. The Fireblade was the very first Supersport where the focus was not on power, but on weight.

In honor of that groundbreaking Fireblade, a Limited Edition 30th Anniversary version of the Fireblade SP will be available in 2022. Its three-tone paint is a faithful tribute to the original, with the ultra-modern look of the 20YM stripe layout fused with the brushstroke styling cues of the legendary 1992 bike.

The Fireblade SP will also be available in two standard exterior colours, Grand Prix Red and Matte Pearl Morion Black, both now with gold rims, while the ‘standard’ Fireblade itself will receive an updated Grand Prix Red exterior with a striking white number plate on the fairing.

The changes are not only noticeable on the outside, but also include technical changes to the 215 hp four-cylinder. The rear sprocket has also grown three teeth (43 teeth), making acceleration even faster in any ratio. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) has been optimized for refined rear tire traction control – thanks to input from HRC riders – and throttle response has been further refined.

A new material and surface finish for the Nissin front caliper pistons improves braking performance and consistency in racing conditions. The Fireblade SP’s Öhlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C) and Brembo brakes continue to operate top-of-the-line suspension and brakes, along with a newly optimized quickshifter.
