Youtube.com is popular for posting all kinds of videos. It’s really easy to put a video on it. In many cases they are spectacular or comical films. Sometimes, however, they are films that are really unacceptable and seriously hurt or ridicule the people that follow.
However, it is not so easy to delete such a video.
Also the comments and reactions are almost possible to remove.
In our civilized society it must nevertheless be possible that the targeted person(s) in question, in a simple way,
should be able to remove disrespectful video and/or comments.
Surely this is one of the basic principles of human rights.
How can you concretely remove such a video and/or comment?
Answer
On YouTube, you can only delete videos that you own. If someone else uploaded the video, you can never delete it yourself. Only if the video infringes your copyright, or if the video violates YouTube’s Community Guidelines (www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines), you can take action. In the first case, you can follow the guidelines at http://www.youtube.com/t/dmca_policy to report copyright infringement. In the second case, if a video is not acceptable, you can mark or flag this video. You must have a YouTube account and be logged in for this. Under each video on YouTube, you will find the option to flag this video. You must also specify the reason why you want to flag this video. YouTube monitors flagged videos 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If the content is indeed inappropriate, they will also remove the video.
Similar rules apply to deleting comments. You can only delete comments and reactions that have been placed on your videos. Otherwise, follow the same procedure as above and flag/flag the video stating why you think the comment is inappropriate.
