A payment request via the Tikkie app is quick and easy. And safe. But beware of fake payment requests and learn to recognize them.
What is a Tikkie?
With the Tikkie app, users can easily request money back from others. By creating a payment request in the app and sharing it via WhatsApp. For example, after a dinner with a group or an outing where someone has paid (all) costs in advance. ‘Just send a Tikkie’, people say. A Tikkie is very handy. Everyone transfers money via iDEAL.

How reliable is Tikkie?
Tikkie was developed by ABN Amro. Payment is always made via iDEAL. This means that you always complete the payment through your own bank. That makes the Tikkie app a very safe payment method.
Recognizing a real Tikkie
Unfortunately, Tikkie has also been discovered by scammers. So you have to be careful. Fortunately, it is easy to recognize a genuine payment request. Tikkie always uses a link that looks like this: https://tikkie.me/pay/[code]
See the example below. If you get a Tikkie, pay attention to the link. This always contains:
- ‘https’ at the beginning.
- ‘tikkie.me/pay/’ in the rest of the link.
Scammers like to play with the link. For example, you will see ‘tlkkie.nl’ instead of ‘tikkie.me’. So pay close attention to the link.
