I’m looking for an easy way to make an ester (eg isoamyl acetate ~ banana oil). Is this easy to make in a school lab?

Answer
Hi Nico
You can ‘easily’ make an ester from an alcohol (usually ethanol), an organic acid and a concentrated acid to speed up the reaction.
You can find information on the chemistry forum, for example.
Better yet, pick up an organic chemistry textbook, and then one describing some experiments.
You will also find a lot of (profile) papers by Dutch students on the net.
You want to do such a synthesis under the supervision of your teacher, I hope?
Kind regards
