To avoid paying more than the monthly rate of your mobile plan, it is better to control your data consumption when you are not connected to Wi-Fi. We will show you the procedure on your smartphone.
Mobile plan users are all faced with the same problem: if calls and texts are often unlimited, this is not the case for mobile data and you must therefore monitor your consumption when using your smartphone. In particular, care must be taken not to consume data when it is not needed. Here are the different ways not to exceed your plan with iOS and Android.
Android
To turn off mobile data, slide your finger down from the top of the screen to display the collapsed configuration bar, then slide down a second to access the quick actions area. In the box, find the mobile data icon and tap it. Depending on the device, this disconnects the mobile data or it gives access to a switch to perform the operation.

The switch is also available in Android settings, by going to Data usage (Android 7) or Network and Internet, then Data usage (Android 8). The titles and the steps may differ depending on the manufacturer’s overlay. For example, you have to go to Connections then Use of data at Samsung. If in doubt, type data Where mobile data in the settings search box to find the right option.

To refine the settings, you can specify which apps have access to mobile data. Tap on Applications in the settings (or Apps & notifications then Applications), then on an app. Then tap on Data usage and turn off the switch Background data (or Mobile data on some smartphones).

You can also set a limit for mobile data usage. In the section Data usage (or Data usage), tap Billing cycle. You can then set a limit for the data consumption, as well as a warning threshold.

On some smartphones, for example Samsung, the manufacturers have planned to set the limit directly on the consumption curve, in the form of a horizontal bar that can be moved.
ios
Tap the settings icon (cogwheel on the home screen), then Cellular data. You can then turn off the switch to disconnect the function.

Scroll down and you get the consumption for the current period, but mostly switches for each application. You can thus activate only those which interest you when you are only in mobile connection. Also deactivate Wi-Fi Assistance and the iCloud Drive if you don’t need it in mobile connection.

If you still want to use apps but don’t want them to consume data when not displayed (running in the background), tap General in the settings of iOS, then on Background refresh. Turn off the switches for the apps you want to block.

In settings, type iTunes Store and App Store. Check that the switch Cellular data is extinguished.

Thus, automatic downloads will only be carried out over Wi-Fi.
