Activate the developer options of your smartphone to take advantage of the advanced functions of Android.
Well known to hackers, developer mode allows Android users to access some advanced features of their device.
By default, “Developer options” are disabled. If they are unnecessary in the case of a classic use of Android, their activation becomes however necessary when you seek to access certain specific features of your device: USB debugging, advanced system customization, configuration of processor parameters, etc.
Once activated, the developer options should be used with caution: only use the functions offered if you know exactly what you are doing, or end up with an unstable device. The following operations were performed on a device running Android 9 and may therefore be different if you are using an older version of the operating system.
1. Open settings
To enable developer options, open Android Settings, go to System, and go to the About phone menu.
2. Activate the options for developers
Locate the line dedicated to the Build number of your version of Android and tap it 7 times.
Confirm enabling developer mode by entering your device unlock code. A confirmation message stating “You are now a developer” should appear.
3. Access the options for developers
To access Developer Options after activating them, open Settings, enter System, and expand Advanced Options to bring up the Developer Options menu.
4. Disable options for developers
If you want to go back and make the dedicated Developer Options menu disappear, enter it, and simply disable the function using the dedicated button.
Going back to the previous menu, Developer Options should have disappeared from the advanced options.
