Fall asleep to the sound of your music library by setting a timer to automatically stop playback after a set amount of time.
What could be better than listening to a sweet melody or a podcast in bed before diving into the arms of Morpheus? The only problem is that before falling asleep, you have no other choice but to manually stop the current reading, with the risk of waking up and no longer falling asleep.
The trick is certainly not new but does not seem known to all: it is possible on iPhone and iPad to set the timer to automatically stop the current playback of a media after a certain duration. Setting the timer to automatically stop playing works for all media playing on your device, from music to podcasts to Netflix.
1. Access the timer
On iOS several options are possible to access the timer: you can either open the Clock application or, if the shortcut is configured, access it from the Control Center. Once the application is open, go to the Timer tab.

2. Choose a duration
Depending on how long it usually takes to fall asleep, choose the length of time you want playback to stop.

3. Select the action
Then enter the Ringing menu then scroll through all the ringing tones to select the last available option: Stop playing. Confirm your choice by pressing Choose, at the top right.

4. Activate the timer
Once all the settings have been chosen, press the Start button. Close the Clock application, and start playing music, a podcast or any other media.

When the time is up, playback should stop instantly.
