How to cancel ZenMate?

Do you want to cancel your subscription to the VPN provider ZenMate, and why not take advantage of their refund policy? You are on the right page ! While it is generally easy to cancel a ZenMate subscription, getting a refund is a little more complicated.

What is ZenMate?

ZenMate is a Germany-based VPN provider that focuses on censorship circumvention as well as ease of use. Since it is based in Germany, ZenMate cannot guarantee an absolutely perfect no log policy (no user data is recorded by ZenMate). Indeed, the company falls under EU laws, and may be required to cooperate with the authorities.

The service is very decent overall, with average connection speeds and a fairly impressive number of servers scattered around the world. There are in fact almost 300 servers spread across 34 countries. In terms of supported platforms, ZenMate is not left out, since almost all of your devices and/or browsers will be able to run this VPN. From your smartphone to your PC, via your favorite web browser (ZenMate also supports Opera, which few VPN providers do), you can run ZenMate simultaneously on up to 5 devices (which is the standard for most VPNs).

The fact is that ZenMate doesn’t make it easy for you when you want to benefit from said reimbursement. There is no dedicated “button”, you will need to contact customer service. What’s more, the way you get a refund will differ depending on whether you purchased ZenMate directly on the site or via App Store/Google Play.

How to cancel your ZenMate subscription?

Before you can benefit from the refund, you will have to cancel your account. Please note that if you subscribed to ZenMate via Google Play/App Store, the process will be different from that for canceling a subscription made via their website.

1. Cancel your subscription via ZenMate

  • To cancel your subscription, start by going to the website, then log in using your usual login details.
  • Then go to your dashboard.
  • Once on your dashboard, click on “Transactions”. You are now faced with your active subscription(s).
  • Then click on “See more” (“See more” if you are on the French-speaking version of the site) next to the subscription you wish to cancel.
  • You should find a “Cancel subscription” option. All you have to do is click on it, then confirm that you want to cancel your subscription.

2. Cancel your subscription via Google Play Store

  • Open the Play-Store application
  • Tap the option button (left of the search bar)
  • Next, tap “Subscriptions”
  • Tap the ZenMate icon

3. Cancel your subscription via App Store

  • Open the App Store and tap your user name/icon (top right).
  • In your account management section, tap your username/icon again.
  • Scroll down and tap “Subscriptions.”
  • Tap the ZenMate icon.
  • Select “Cancel your subscription”.

Once your subscription is canceled, you will still be able to use the service until the scheduled expiration date. The automatic payment will not be renewed, but your account will still exist.

Get a 30-day refund from ZenMate

First of all, have your identifiers and your order number ready, which you can find in the summary email sent to you upon purchase. There is no automated process to take advantage of the refund policy offered by ZenMate. You will therefore need to contact customer service and explain your situation. There are three solutions available to you to do this.

1. Obtain your refund via contact form

It is possible to get in touch with customer support via a contact form, which you can find by following this link.

  • Enter the email address you used to subscribe to the service, the reference number of your order as well as the subject of your request.
  • To speed up the process, it is advisable to specify the reasons for your request for a refund, but you can get away with a simple sentence explaining that you no longer need the service.
  • You will then receive an email possibly asking you for confirmation, then you will receive your refund within 7 working days.

2. Obtain your refund via Live Chat

It is also possible to contact customer service via chat, directly on the ZenMate website. The process is essentially the same as via contact form.

  • Go to the help page. At the bottom right is a “Chat” button. Click on it, then click on “Live Chat” to be connected to customer service.
  • Here too, you will need to enter the email address linked to your ZenMate account, your order number as well as the reasons leading you to request a refund.

3. Obtain your refund via email

Write to them from the address you used to purchase your subscription, and explain your situation. As with the other methods, specify your order number from the outset to speed up the process.

ZenMate’s customer service has never really stood out for its speed. What’s more, all your contacts will be in English, which may slow down your procedures a little more, even if overall it will not take you more than a few days to be fully reimbursed.
