
Searches and videos viewed on YouTube are automatically kept in a history. However, it is possible to deactivate it.
All the actions you take on YouTube are, by default, automatically saved to a history. You will find it directly in the side column of the platform, after deploying the main menu.
It records the history of videos viewed, but also the history of your searches, comments and responses on your videos or discussions, activities related to publications intended for the community, or messages that you could have sent in chats. live.
If it can be practical to find certain content later, you may not want this history to be visible to everyone, especially if your machine that remains logged in to your Google account is used by a loved one.
Fortunately, it is possible to delete this history, in a fairly simple way, and if you don’t need it, to deactivate it. There are two ways to clear and deactivate your YouTube history. Here’s how to do it.
Going directly through YouTube
1. Go to YouTube
Go to YouTube first. Expand the main menu and click on History to access the contents of the latter.

2. Erase the different histories
On the right of the window, the history of viewed videos is selected by default. You will be able, by selecting the other types of history, to consult all of your activities on the online service.
Each type of history can be deleted. However, you have to repeat the operation for each type of history. Select History then, at the bottom of the column, click Clear all history of watched videos. Repeat the manipulation for the other types of history.

3. Disable history
Each type of history can be disabled. To do this, select a type of history and click on Suspend history.

Via the Google activity manager
1. Go to My activity
Google brings together all the tools for managing your personal data on a dedicated page. It is from this page, Google My activity, that it is also possible to check your history on YouTube.

2. Go to YouTube history options
From the Google My Activity home page, click Data & Personalization in the left column.
In the Activity Controls panel, click YouTube History.

3. Clear and deactivate the history
Then deactivate the YouTube History option and confirm by clicking on Deactivate in the pop-up that appears.
The history is then put on standby, but its content remains available and accessible if you view it from YouTube. Then click on Manage activities.

In the next window, using a click on the options menu displayed in the search field and represented by three small dots, choose to Delete the activity.

A pop-up should then appear. Click on Entire period then on Delete to confirm the complete deletion of your history.

Finish by clicking on the OK button. Logically, the YouTube History page of the My Activity page should show that YouTube history is paused.
You can then, by going directly to YouTube and logging into your account, verify that your history has been deleted.
