Owners of an Apple Pencil have been able to dress up their Office documents for some time, but a new update adds this drawing function for your fingers too. That is how it works.
Using Microsoft Office drawing function on iOS
Once you run the August 15 or later update, you can use your fingertips to draw on your Word documents, Excel forms, and PowerPoint presentations. In addition to creating line art, you can also use this feature to quickly shade text or certain parts.
In addition, you can of course also quickly add a handwritten comment this way. A nice way to give your PowerPoint presentation a more playful look, for example. This new Microsoft Office drawing feature is well hidden, but easy to use once you know where to look.
Previously, it was already possible to make drawings in your documents with the Apple Pencil, but because you can only use it on the iPad Pro, the audience that can take advantage of this is somewhat limited. By making the drawing function available for iOS, iPhone users can also create drawings. Below we explain step by step how you come across the function.
This is how you use the Microsoft Office drawing function on iOS
- Open Microsoft Office Word, Excel or Powerpoint;
- Create a new document;
- Tap the letter A and the pin in the top bar;
- Above the keyboard, tap the Start button;
- Select ‘Draw’ from the submenu;
- Here you set the color and whether you want to draw or mark;
- Select the document and use your finger to draw lines.
The Microsoft Office apps are free to download and use, although you must create a Microsoft account to edit documents.
