Apple has just deployed Spatial Audio, which uses Dolby Atmos technology, in Apple Music. Here’s how to activate it today on your iPhone even if you don’t have AirPods.
Dolby Atmos spatial audio is no longer just for AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. Apple unveiled a few days ago its 360 ° sound virtualization system on its Apple Music platform. Thanks to it, the songs you listen to “envelop” you, offering an immersive feel with sound all around you giving you an effect of depth.
Cupertino’s streaming music service now offers spatial audio compatible tracks in its catalog. You will recognize them by the Dolby Atmos mention displayed on the songs or albums that support sound spatialization.
By default, Dolby Atmos sound is automatically enabled on AirPods, Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip, as well as speakers on the latest iPhones, iPads, and Macs with an M1 chip.
However, it is possible to enjoy it on all headphones and speakers that support Dolby Atmos technology. To take advantage of it, you must first activate the option in the settings of the Apple Music application. Here’s how.
Also to discover in video:
1. Open settings
Start by opening iOS Settings. Scroll through the options offered and then enter the Music menu.

2. Change the Music Settings
Once in the Music application settings, locate the section dedicated to Audio settings. Then enter the menu stamped Dolby Atmos.

3. Activate Dolby Atmos
Normally, Dolby Atmos audio is natively set to Automatic. Modify the setting and switch it to Always activated, then in the pop-up that opens, validate by pressing Activate.

Now all supported songs will be played using Dolby Atmos rather than Stereo. Be sure to use Dolby Atmos compatible headphones, however.
