Instagram has just rolled out Reels, a new feature for creating short videos. Here is how to use it.
By launching Reels, Instagram intends to make a place for itself in the field of short videos and attacks the genre specialist, the Chinese application TikTok.
Still in the process of being deployed by some users, Reels allows you to create videos of about fifteen seconds, made up of several clips. Everything can then be embellished with effects and music before being shared on the subscriber’s news feed, or shared with the entire community for public accounts.
Those who opt for this choice may be lucky enough to see their creation selected to appear within the Explore tab, which allows all Instagram users to discover new content creators. Here’s everything you need to know to use Reels properly.
1. Go to Reels
Open the app on your smartphone and go to the Instagram camera. Scroll through the shooting mode at the bottom of the screen to Reels.

2. Start recording
Short Reels videos are made up of several small clips placed end to end, with a maximum of 15 seconds for a full video.
To start recording a Reels video, press and hold the shutter button, start recording your scene, and release the button to cut.

3. Align your clips with the previous ones
If your video needs to have some continuity, it is possible to display a layer allowing you to overlay the camera on the last frame of the previous clip. To do this, press the icon representing two superimposed squares on the left of the interface, reposition the camera of your smartphone, and start recording your video again.

4. Add effects
To get the best results, Reels offers several tools to enhance your video.
Before starting to record a clip, you can add music, speed up the playback of a clip, apply a filter, or set a timer to determine in advance the duration of the clip to be recorded. Partnering with influencers or creators in your niche can help you reach their audience and buy reel views additionally.

5. Share your video
After all the clips in your video have been shot, tap the arrow to view the preview. Using the integrated tools at the top right of the screen, you can, if you wish, choose to save your creation in your smartphone’s camera roll, add a sticker, draw or add text to the video.

When your personalization is complete, press the arrow to go to the next step. All you have to do is add a caption and hashtags then share your creation in your feed, or in a story.
