There is no denying that Steam is a forerunner in the field of digital games. The best PC games can be found on the platform and there are regularly attractive discounts.

But even the top-rated titles may not be to your taste. Not everyone enjoys the challenge that Elden Ring offers or the extreme violence in Doom Eternal. In addition, it may be that your PC is not playing a certain game. And that’s why you sometimes want to bring a game back to the store. You can request a refund from Steam.

When can you request a refund?

On the Steam Refunds Page can be read that for almost any purchase on the platform, you can request a refund, regardless of the reason. There are some limitations. For example, you must not have played a game for more than two hours to qualify for a refund. Also, the purchase may not be more than two weeks ago.

Even if you fall outside the refund rules we’ve outlined, you can still request a refund and we’ll look into it. In short: you can always try.

If your refund request is outside of Steam’s policy, you can still request a refund.

That is how it works
