Change your inbox settings to turn off the display of Google Meet in Gmail on the web and on the iOS and Android mobile app.
Formerly reserved for Gsuite subscribers only, Google Meet, Google’s video conferencing service, has become free for all users with a Google account.
A few days later, the Mountain View firm drove the point home by integrating its solution directly into Gmail, instead of Hangouts.
But for Gmail users who don’t use the service, adding Google Meet to their inbox clutters the sidebar even more. Fortunately, it is possible to deactivate the service, which will still be accessible from the dedicated meet.google.com page. Here’s how to do it:
On the Web
1. Go to settings
Open your Gmail inbox, and click the cogwheel button at the top right to open settings. Then click on Show all parameters to access all the options.

2. Disable Meet
Then go to the tab dedicated to Chat and Meet. Then choose to Hide the Meet section from the main menu.

Validate your settings by clicking on Save changes. Go back to your inbox, Google Meet should then be gone from the Gmail side column.
On the iOS or Android app
1. Go to settings
Open the app on your smartphone and deploy the main menu. Scroll through the options and go to the App Settings.

2. Deactivate Meet in the app
Once in Settings, tap on your account (your Gmail address). If you’ve set up multiple Gmail accounts in the app, you’ll need to repeat the process for each one.

Then scroll through the options until you reach Meet. You just have to uncheck Show the Meet tab for video calls to remove the function from your inbox.
