
Google has just unveiled the first public beta of Android 11. It is possible to install it today on your Pixel smartphone.
The first public beta of Android 11 is now available. Google has just unveiled it without even having presented it during a conference as is usually the case.
For now, only Google Pixel smartphones are eligible for the installation of this first beta. Until other brands of smartphones can benefit from it, here is the complete list of devices on which it is already possible to install it:
- Pixel 2
- Pixel 2 XL
- Pixel 3
- Pixel 3 XL
- Pixel 3a
- Pixel 3a XL
- Pixel 4
- Pixel 4 XL
1. Log in to the beta program page
Meeting on the dedicated page allowing you to register for the Android beta program.
If you haven’t already, sign in to your Google Account by clicking Sign In.

2. Select your device
Once on the Android beta program home page, click the View your eligible devices button.

Under the Your eligible devices menu, you should see the list of devices you own that are eligible for the installation of this beta.
Click the Activate button of the device on which you want to install the Android 11 beta.

In the pop-up that appears, check I accept the terms of the beta program and then click on Participate in the beta program.

A message confirming that your device is enrolled in the beta program appears, click OK.

3. Start the update on the smartphone
The recovery and installation of the beta version of Android 11 is then done entirely from the smartphone.
Open Device Settings, go to the System menu, deploy Advanced Preferences and enter the System Update menu.

You should be offered the Android 11 beta update. Tap Download & Install, then Resume to proceed with the immediate installation of Android 11 beta, as the update module normally performs this operation when the phone is idle, and therefore not in use.

Wait for the update to download and install. At the end of the process, your smartphone should offer a Restart now button. Tap on it to restart the device which should now work in the beta version of Android 11.
4. Exit the beta program
Since the beta version of an operating system is what it is, you may experience certain malfunctions or instabilities. If the daily use of the beta is not for you, you can very easily take your smartphone out of the beta program and reinstall the latest stable version of Android 10.
To do this, log on to the page dedicated to the Android beta program. Go to the Devices tab, then click the Deactivate button. Then click on Exit Beta in the pop-up that appears.

You will then have to follow the same steps as the previous step. Open the Device Settings, go to the System menu, and access Advanced Preferences to enter the dedicated System Update menu.
You should then be offered an OTA (Over The Air) update to reinstall the latest stable version of Android 10.
