Google has just made available the first beta of Android Q. It is already possible to install it, provided you have a compatible smartphone.
Google has just unveiled the first beta of Android Q. Accessible to all, only owners of Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones can, for the time being, install it on their device.
To take advantage of it in preview, you must first go to the dedicated page to register for the beta program and choose the device on which to install Android Q.
1. Enter the beta program
Go to the page dedicated to the Android beta program. If you haven’t already, sign in to your Google Account by clicking the Sign In button.
2. View eligible devices
Now click on the View your eligible devices button. The page automatically scrolls and displays the list of Android Q compatible devices you own. To join the beta program, click Opt In on the device where you want to install Android Q.
3. Download Android Q on your device
From your Pixel, open Settings, and go to the System menu. Deploy Advanced Options, and access the System Updates menu.
Android Q update should automatically be offered. Make sure you have enough battery life (charge your device for added security), and tap Download and install.
4. Exit the beta program
In case you want to quit the beta program and go back to a stable version of Android, go back to the beta program page, then, in the list of eligible devices, click Opt Out for your device.
As in step 3, go to Settings> System> Advanced options> System updates. A new update proposing to reinstall your old version of Android should be offered.
