The latest update to instant messaging incorporates a new security option to lock access to the app using Face ID or Touch ID.
WhatsApp has just released an update that will be of particular interest to iPhone users. The messaging app introduces a security feature to lock access to the app using Touch ID or Face ID, depending on the device you own.
The functionality takes place directly in the options related to privacy. Here’s how to take advantage of it.
1. Update WhatsApp
Open the App Store on your iPhone and go to the section dedicated to updates to retrieve the latest version of WhatsApp, stamped 2.19.20.

2. Go to App Settings
To activate the app lock, open WhatsApp and go to App settings. Then enter the Account menu, then in the section dedicated to Privacy, scroll through the options and enter the Screen lock menu.
3. Activate the screen lock
Once in the Screen lock menu, activate the option Require Touch ID or Use Face ID, if you have an iPhone X or newer. Choose the length of time after which you want the app to be automatically locked.
