Google’s calendar has become the new playground for hackers. Fake event invitations are automatically added to your calendar in an attempt to steal your data.
Spammers are resourceful. Not content with clogging up our mailboxes on a daily basis, they are now attacking our calendars, and more particularly the Google Calendar. In recent days, many users have seen invitations to events, sent by strangers, flourish in their calendars.
These invitations, automatically added to the calendar, have no other purpose than to make you click on a link inviting you to claim, for example, a gift. It is actually a phishing attempt.

You can ignore these events and delete them altogether, but they will certainly return eventually, as Google allows email invitations to be added to your calendar by default. Here’s how to fix it.
1. Go to Google Calendar settings
Go to your Google Calendar, click on the cogwheel icon to access Calendar Settings.

2. Disable automatic addition of events
In the left column, enter Event Settings.

Then pull down the Automatically add invitations menu to change the parameter to No, display only the invitations to which I have replied.

3. Prevent automatic addition of events from Gmail
In the left column, now go to the section dedicated to Events added from Gmail.
Uncheck the option Automatically add events from Gmail to my calendar and click OK to validate.

4. Deactivate the display of rejected events
To make sure that you no longer see spam invitations that you have refused in the past, you should also turn off the display of refused events.
To do this, go to the Display options menu in the left column, then uncheck the Display refused events option.

All changes made in your Google Calendar settings are automatically saved. From now on, only events that you have replied to and for which you have accepted the invitation should be displayed in your calendar.
