The messaging application has a built-in synchronization system that gives you plenty of time to retrieve messages deleted by mistake.
If you use WhatsApp on a daily basis, you have probably accidentally deleted one or more messages from a conversation, or even worse, a photo or video that you had not saved. Don’t panic, there is a fairly easy way to recover mistakenly deleted content on WhatsApp.
Depending on the cloud backup frequency configured in the app (monthly, weekly, or daily), messages and files deleted from the app can be restored within minutes.
1. Compare the dates
To do this, you must first make sure that the deleted items are part of the last backup made by WhatsApp.
To do this, compare the date (even approximate) of the deleted items with the date of the last backup.

You will find this information by going to Settings, then in Discussions, enter the Backup menu where the date of the last backup is indicated.
2. Reinstall WhatsApp
If the date of deleted messages is older than the date of the last WhatsApp cloud backup, then the missing messages should be part of the backup. Uninstall the app from your device and reinstall it.
- Download WhatsApp for Android (Free)
- Download WhatsApp for iPhone (Free)
3. Restore the cloud backup
Open WhatsApp and reconfigure your account by entering your phone number. Then choose to Restore existing cloud backup. You should then find all the items deleted by mistake.

Keep in mind that this manipulation will not work with the messages and content that you have just received, if the cloud backup has not been updated in the meantime.
