How to search for a message in WhatsApp
WhatsApp conversations can get long, really long. If you’ve known someone for a few years, you’ll soon have hundreds if not thousands of messages that you’ve sent and received. And then finding a message becomes quite difficult. Scrolling through all the messages is simply not possible.
But you can also search for a specific message in WhatsApp. You still need to know roughly what the message was about. With the general search function, it is possible to search in all chats, unread messages or groups. You will find this search function at the top of the list with all your chat conversations.
It is also possible to search a specific chat conversation. You do this in the following way.
Find message in WhatsApp conversation
- Open the chat where you want to find a message;
- Tap the name of the person you’re chatting with at the top;
- You will see the contact information, tap the ‘Search’ button;
- Enter one or more words you want to search for in the search box;
- If you get multiple hits, tap the circle with the arrow to browse through the results found.
If you find the message, tap cancel next to the search box. You can then continue the conversation.
