Leaving the iOS ecosystem for Android means preparing well for your migration, so as not to leave anything behind. Let’s start by backing up your iPhone address book contacts to restore them to your new Android smartphone.
Switching from an iPhone to an Android smartphone can sometimes turn into a nightmare. The transfer of data from one device to another is more or less easy. While some manufacturers offer their in-house application for transferring from one device to another, not all of them support Apple devices and are often limited to transferring data from Android to Android.
If you are a Gmail user, you most likely also use Google’s service to synchronize your data. Switching to an Android terminal will not mess you up any more than that since you will only have to configure your Google account to synchronize your contacts.
On the other hand, if all your data, including contacts, is synced to iCloud, transferring it to an Android smartphone will require a little gymnastics. Here’s how to extract your contacts from iPhone before re-injecting them into your Android smartphone.
1. Download My Contacts Backup
Download the My Contacts Backup app on your iPhone. Offered free of charge, this application allows you to save the contacts in your address book in a vCard format file containing all your contacts and which can be used by most address book applications.

2. Save your contacts
Open the app on your iPhone, allow it to access your contacts and press the Backup button. When the backup is complete, press Ok, then Email to send yourself an email to your own address containing the attachment in VCF format generated by My Contacts Backup.

3. Restore contacts to Android
To restore your contacts to Android, simply go to the email you just sent yourself, and open the attachment. A new window appears and asks you to choose your import mode. You can choose to import them to a Gmail account or directly to a device. We recommend that you import them directly to a Gmail account so that they always stay synchronized on your device.

Note that it is also possible to import your contacts directly from your Gmail box. To do this, save the VCF file on your computer’s hard drive, open Gmail, and click on the Google Application button at the top right, and choose Contacts.

In your address book, expand the additional options from the left column by clicking More, then click Import. Select the VCF file you just saved on your hard drive.

All contacts from your iPhone are now imported to your Google account. All you have to do is activate the synchronization of contacts from your Google account on your Android smartphone.
