A recent update to Android messaging strengthens the security of the application and now allows the user to unlock access using the fingerprint sensor built into the smartphone.
After iOS, WhatsApp is strengthening the security options of its Android application. A recent update inaugurates, in fact, the possibility for users to unlock access to messaging using the fingerprint sensor integrated into their smartphone.
1. Update WhatsApp
If you haven’t already, update WhatsApp on your Android smartphone. The new functionality is available from version 2.19.308.
Download WhatsApp for Android (apk) (Free)
2. Go to WhatsApp Settings
Open WhatsApp, press the options button, represented by three small dots, and go to the Settings of the application.

Then enter the Account menu and then, in the Privacy menu, tap Fingerprint lock.

Activate the Unlock with fingerprint option and confirm your fingerprint by touching the dedicated sensor on your smartphone with your finger.

3. Change the lock preferences
Once the lock is activated, it is possible to customize some options. You can, for example, change the length of time after which you want Auto-lock to activate, or choose whether or not you want to Show content in notifications.

For optimal protection, choose to have the automatic locking engage Immediately. Thus, each time the application is reopened, you will have to unlock it by pressing your finger on the fingerprint sensor of your smartphone.
