How to use iCloud on an Android smartphone

Many Apple services do not have an app for Android. iCloud is no different. Fortunately, if you save your important files and photos via Apple’s cloud service, it is still possible to view them on an Android smartphone (or tablet).

Using iCloud on an Android smartphone may not be as streamlined as it is from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Nevertheless, the most important features are largely present. We explain how to use Apple’s cloud service on your Android device.

This is how you use iCloud on your Android phone

You can easily use iCloud on your Android smartphone by opening its website in your browser. You can of course use Google Chrome, Firefox or another browser for this. Of course you must first log in with your Apple ID and associated password to continue.

You will then be prompted for a six-digit code as a two-step verification method. You will receive this code on your Apple device, such as your iPhone, iPad or MacBook. If you indicate that you trust the Android device, you will not have to enter this verification code again next time. Saves again!

These iCloud features are available on Android

Apple’s services generally work best on Apple devices. It is possible to access a lot of files via iCloud on an Android device, but not all of them. Fortunately, Apple continues to expand compatibility.

You can work on Android with files from Photos, iCloud Drive, Notes, Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, Find My and the office suite Pages, Numbers and Keynote. The most important features are therefore present on your phone.

If you have a paid subscription to iCloud+, you get access to some additional functionality on Android, such as the ability to create a custom email domain and hide your email address.
