Subscribe to the school vacation calendar provided by the National Education on your smartphone to keep the dates of holidays in the different zones on your smartphone.
Before booking your stay in the sun, it is better to check the date on which you want to leave: if parents will have to plan to leave during the school holidays, others will on the contrary want to avoid the holiday rush and high prices by looking for a destination outside School vacation.
If the official dates are given each year by the Ministry of National Education and Youth, finding the dates specific to each zone is not always easy. To simplify matters, the site education.gouv.fr offers the possibility to subscribe to the school vacation calendar directly from your smartphone. Here’s how to do it.
From an iPhone
On iOS, there are several ways to get the school vacation calendar in the Calendar app.
Method 1:
The main disadvantage of this method is that all school holidays are added as events in your regular calendar. In addition, to remove them from your calendar, you will have to do it manually, for each event associated with a holiday period.
To view the school vacation calendar on your iPhone, simply click on this link:

You should see an alert that the website is trying to show you a calendar invitation. Tap Allow to accept, then when the number of calendar events is displayed, tap Add All.
Then select the calendar in which you want the different dates to be added as an event. Then confirm by pressing OK.
Method 2:
The second method allows you to create a calendar independent of your usual calendar, to which you must subscribe.
To do this, open iOS Settings, then in Passwords & accounts, tap Add account and then tap Other.
Then choose to Add a calendar with subscription. On the server line, copy and paste the address of the school vacation calendar:

Press the Next button, customize the Description of the calendar if you wish and, in order not to be disturbed by a notification, activate the Delete alarms setting. Confirm your calendar subscription by pressing Save.
To delete this calendar, you will have to go back to Settings, then in Passwords and accounts, enter Calendar subscriptions. Then access the account dedicated to the school vacation calendar. A Remove Account button should be displayed.
From an Android smartphone
Like iOS, there are several ways to access the school vacation calendar from your Android smartphone.
Method 1:
This method, easy to set up, will create an event for each school vacation period, in one of your existing calendars. To get rid of this calendar, you will have to manually delete each of the events associated with a holiday period.
Press the following link to open it with your browser, and choose to Download the file Calendar_scolaire_Zones_A_B_C.ics.
Open the file you just downloaded, either from the Downloads menu in Google Chrome or from the Android notifications panel. The list of the different school holidays, displayed in the form of events, appears.
Tap Add all, and choose an existing Calendar. Confirm the creation of events in your usual calendar by pressing Add all.
Method 2
It is, a priori, not possible to subscribe to a third-party calendar via an Android smartphone. The manipulation must be carried out from a computer.
To do this, go to your google calendar. In the left column, click the + button displayed next to Other calendars, then click From URL.
In the Calendar URL field, copy and paste the following link:
webcal: //cache.media.education.gouv.fr/ics/Calendrier_Scolaire_Zones_A_B_C.ics
Then confirm by clicking on Add an agenda.
The calendar should automatically integrate into Google Calendar.
Go back to your Android smartphone and open the Calendar app. Tap the menu shown by three small dots and tap Refresh to refresh the agenda.
Then deploy the main menu to access Application Settings. On the line for your Google account, tap More calendars.
The school vacation calendar should appear. Press it to enter its settings and activate the Synchronization button.
Whether you are using Android or iOS, the calendar subscription will ensure that you have an always up-to-date calendar that automatically renews every year, as long as the site dedicated to the school calendar will allow it.
