Hozon Neta GT: electric four-seat coupé with a good range

Electric cars are coming onto the market in more and more forms, but relatively affordable electric coupés are still scarce – let alone in Europe. That’s where this Neta GT from the Chinese Hozon Auto comes into play. You can still fit four in it too!

At the end of December, AutoWeek published the first photos of an electric coupe from the Chinese manufacturer Hozon Auto in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. The car that we then thought would be called Neta E has now been officially presented to the Chinese public on social platform Weibo as Neta GT.

The now nine-year-old Hozon Auto already sells a handful of models in China, including the Neta S, which the brand also wants to bring to Europe in the long term. Hozon’s delivery range also consists of the Neta U and Neta V, compact crossovers that now have an electric coupe next to them. After the Neta S, the Neta GT is Hozon Auto’s second model to be based on its Shanhai platform. The Neta GT is 4.72 meters long, 1.98 meters wide and 1.42 meters low. This makes it considerably longer than, for example, an Alpine A110 (4.18 meters). In terms of length, the Neta GT comes closer to cars such as the previous generation C-class Coupé (4.69 meters). Also in the Neta GT you have to be able to go through automotive life with the four of you. With the big difference that the Neta GT is fully electric. Incidentally, do not expect too much of the space in the back, because the roofline is quite steep.

The Neta GT comes with a single, 231 hp electric motor, among other things. There will also be a version with an electric motor with the same power at the front and rear. Regardless of the chosen version, the top speed of the Neta E, which weighs at least 1,850 kilograms, is 190 km/h. The electric range is up to 580 kilometers, although this has been determined via the not exactly accurate CLTC method. Chinese prices are not yet available.

Hozon Auto is said to be planning to market the Neta S in Europe. Should Hozon actually set foot on European soil, should it also bring this electric coupe?
