Very rare and yet already the second

Maybe you’ve never heard of the Humber Super Snipe, or the Humber brand at all. Big chance. This is a very rare car and yet it is already the second Super Snipe that stars in ‘In the Wild’.
There are not more than a few dozen cars of the Humber brand in the Netherlands and there appear to be no more than about fifteen of the Super Snipe model specifically. So we have a particularly rare classic in front of us here thanks to AutoWeek forum member Gaiajohan. Yet it is not the first to be admired here on AutoWeek.nl, because two years ago colleague Jan Lemkes also bumped into one. That was a slightly younger one, a Series IV from 1963. We now have one in front of us from 1960, a Series II.
The Humber Super Snipe Series II looks different from the previously spotted example, especially at the front. The similarities are greater at the rear. This Series II is also a ‘new style’ Super Snipe, from the late 1930s to the late 1950s there was already a significantly classically designed Super Snipe. There also seem to be a few copies of this in our country. We challenge the avid spotters to capture one of these on camera.
An important reason that Humbers are so rare here in the Netherlands is that many were not delivered new here. This Super Snipe also only came this way long after its construction. About twenty years ago, so when he was already 43 years old. Since then, the stately sedan has changed owners a few times, the last time being about a year ago. He is in a fairly exceptional situation with his Humber and we can imagine that there are often enough questions about what kind of brand that was.
