Hundreds of driving exams postponed due to shortage of examiners

The Central Bureau for Driving Skills (CBR) had to cancel about three hundred exams on Monday due to a lack of examiners, a spokesperson confirms when asked. NU.nl.

The CBR has had to postpone about three hundred exams due to a shortage of examiners. Normally, the CBR has a nice army of ‘reserve examiners’ on hand, but due to the current corona crisis they are through. The exams that could not take place will be taken as soon as possible. “It’s less than 10 percent of all exams,” said a spokesperson. “The fact that we are dealing with a lot of absenteeism is a national issue.” As with other sectors, the staff of the CBR is also affected by the corona virus.

Since the number of infections has risen again, the CBR has been dealing with more absenteeism, which means that exams have to be rescheduled more often. “We are dealing with infections, but also people who have to quarantine plus the normal absenteeism.” Last week it was announced that absenteeism due to illness in our country is at a historically high level across the board.

Earlier this month it turned out that the waiting time for driving and theory exams in the major cities is again quite long. Although catching up has been made, the new measures and the return of keeping one and a half meters away are again causing delays. In Utrecht, for example, you now have to wait about three months for a practical exam.
